A beautifully refined wine from Chateau de Saint Lager, this Brouilly is best served chilled and is a quite fabulous Gamay from the region. It has a deep ruby colour with hints of garnet red and a nose packed with berries, prunes, raspberries and very ripe strawberries. A nicely supple wine with red fruit flavours. Great with either red or white meats but simply delicious with Goats cheese.

Chateau de Saint Lager
The barony of Saint Lager dates back to 1432 where the castle is mentionned in records from 1430 and the old fortress was transformed into a large mansion during the XVI century. The wine-domain itself used to cover a third of the village territory and included the Eastern part of the famous slopes of Brouilly.
The last portions of this very ancient domain were purchased by the Château de Pizay in 1998. The Château de St Lager Brouilly wines are produced at the foot of the hill , the slimy and sandy soils give the wine an intense and soft fruity touch, the tasting is supple and elegant.
