Ripe golden yellow color. with a lactic nose and butterscotch notes. It has a rich palate with lots of secondary characteristics of caramel, toasty oak, ripe spicy pear and anise. A wine of elegance and concentration of pure fruit flavours reflecting a Burgundian approach. There are smoky, autumnal aromas on the nose.
Domaine Gaillard
Pierre Gaillard studied Viticulture and Enology in Beaune, and obtained a Graduate Diploma in Winemaking from Montpellier before becoming a vineyard manager for a highly-regarded estate in Côte-Rôtie.
In 1981, he bought his first parcel of land, Clos de Cuminailles in Malleval. He now manages 77 hectares around Malleval, Cottebrune and Madeloc and uses modern techniques to ensure his wines express clear and precise fruity aromas, with a profound colour and refined tannins.
His vineyards in the northern part of the Rhone Valley, ranging from Cote-Rotie down through to Cornas in the South are planted on steep slopes with the vines are located on the last foothills of the Massif Central.
