Dunville's 1808 is a modern blend of pot still, malt and grain whiskeys aged in quality ex-bourbon American oak casks. A wonderful whiskey full of individual character, like the city of its birth. Strong and uncompromised, charming and honest, this is The Spirit of Belfast.
Dunville's Established in Belfast in 1801, Dunville launched its best-known pot-still whiskey brand in 1837 – the premium VR, named for Queen Victoria. The company went on to build Belfast’s largest production facility, the Royal Irish Distilleries, in 1869. The head office was in Arthur Street, Belfast, where Café Vaudeville now stands. The company continued to grow and its whiskey was shipped worldwide. Dunville itself eventually closed its doors in 1935. In the early seventies the company (Dunville and Co. LTD) and the trade mark “Dunville” where registered/revived by the Russell family from Belfast who once again traded the iconic brand, sadly thought, due to inconsistencies in a regular supply of Irish whiskey from other distilleries the brand never really appeared on a permanent basis. The Echlinville distillery was granted a licence to distil for Dunville and is now proud to produce a premium whiskey for this truly Northern Irish label and to give it the provenance that it deserves in our history of whiskey making.
